Average food, kinda slow service for the beginning of the dinner hour, wine selection is great. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

As for the service, I had everything I needed throughout the meal but the server was a bit snappy at times. She also swore my med-rare filet would not come out over cooked, which it did. Came out medium. The reason I am still giving four stars is because of the food quality, and the beer/drink selection variety. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant sits right on the train tracks (which still run) and they have every type of seating you can think of.

Great sandwiches and yummy salad. We went to the bar patio area. A friend told me the dining room is more upscale, but I preferred this casual side for easy conversation with colleagues.

Friendly bar. Nice people, good draft selection. I had the small plate seafood, which was a tasty mix of calamari, shrimp, mussels and scallops with a buttery cheesy sauce. A good mix of seafood without the overly filling pasta. Great for a snack or for dieters or those avoiding carbs.

After hearing great things for years, we finally tried this LaPlata landmark. We sat in the dining room and appreciated the warm and modern mixed with classic decor, the knowledgeable staff and the excellent food. We started with the spinach cigars - light phyllo filled with flavorful spinach and feta and accompanied by two dipping sauces: one a flavorful roasted red pepper and one refreshing tadziki-style. We also enjoyed the Crab Navajo appetizer - savory jumbo lump, fry bread and well blended spices. I enjoyed the wild salmon sandwich - sooo good! You can taste the difference and it's clear the chef has thought about every element of this sandwich: the bread, the condiments and the fish! We also enjoyed the French Dip sandwich and the meat was cooked just right, the onions were properly carmelized and the bread held up well to the dipping in the not-too-salty jus. We will be back soon, with more friends and family!

Atmosphere: As if caught in a time paradox, the artistic direction from decades apart attempting to merge within another - impossible to combine and a eclectic nightmare. The table was terribly wobbly and we had to stuff additional sugar packets under the leg to balance it. Apparently the already placed packets from the previous customer just weren't cutting it. Service: Friendly greeting until I was reprimanded for having my coffee thermos. Server was on top of keeping our waters filled. Our orders were messed up, however. We first asked for broccoli with our steaks, but somehow such a highly-rated restaurant didn't have broccoli, so we had to settle for the bland, meager vegetable medley. Food: Completely disastrous. Bread was quickly brought out. This bread had the telltale stench and texture of previously-frozen dough. I could tell it had been under a heat lamp for at least 15 minutes, so it wasn't cold. The bread was also "seasoned" with McCormick Italian Seasoning which is completely unacceptable in any kitchen - especially at the preposterous prices. We ordered 2 steaks with sides of vegetables. We asked for the steaks to be rare, but they came with hardly a pink hint in the center. These were clearly cooked medium. Even so, cooking them rare would not have saved our jaws from the tiresome act that was chewing the rubbery, sinewy mess of a steak. Overall: Very disappointed in the steep bill that we got considering the relatively small amount of food and the exceeding poor quality of it as well. The greeter/owner didn't say hello or goodbye when we came in and left. We wouldn't have minded our trip to Casey Jones if we were wined and dined better before we were fucked.

Regular customer for the past 10 years. My last visit, New Years Eve, left a lot to be desired. The service was rude amd very unattentive - not the usual friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the filet mignon dish from the NYE menu. I should start by saying that the filet dish is my go to. Wow! How disappointing. There was ZERO flavor to the entire dish. The meat tasted like, well, nothing. It simply had not been seasoned at all. The side of plain potatoes, carrots and snap peas tasted like water - again no flavor whatsoever. Horrible food, horrible service. Will think twice before spending any amount of money here again.

The food is always good. Reasonably priced for an establishment of this size too. I would personally like to go there more often, but they're very slow. My favorite - the grilled Caesar salad with chicken, not to be confused with the grilled chicken Caesar salad... They take a full head of romaine lettuce, sprinkle it with olive oil, then flash-grill it for a few seconds before they bring it out. Sounds strange, but it's a great salad. Also, we seldom go somewhere and ask that all or a portion of the food be sent back, but I would say Casey's has the worst average. Out of the 10+ times we've been in the past year I can recall 3 different occasions where some stuff had to be sent back - the order was wrong or the chicken was overcooked/old. The polite way to say it - they absolutely refuse or will argue about what was ordered if you try to send something back. We would go much more often if they were quicker and weren't worried about a portion of the meal being a dud.

If this place wasn't so nice, it'd be a really lousy restaurant. The food wasn't bad, it was really just completely neutral. We were told we couldn't have a bottle of ketchup because they're considered trashy. Go somewhere else unless you're all about mediocre food. Oh, and the super fancy onion rings are just big onion rings. Not amazing gourmet onion rings.

This is my second trip to Casey Jones and I was not disappointed. Tonight I had the salmon and asparagus and both were cooked perfectly. The grilled sockeye salmon over lemon arugula risotto with asparagus and a tarragon vinaigrette is a great gluten free dinner that was very filling and very flavorful. Save room for dessert!

One of the best places to dine in the area. I always order the espresso encrusted Long Island Duck. Easily the best duck I ever had. Virtually no fat, and it just melts in your mouth. You find yourself eating this dish very slowly, because you don't want the taste experience to end.

Underwhelming...I should have trusted the reviews. The food was very disappointing. The menu describes the food in a way that makes you think you will be eating something with lots of flavor and originality, however that is not what is served. I would not consider going back here.

Caseys used to be the best restaurant in Charles County... The mighty hath fallen... Hard... Food has gone downhill and can be very hit and miss. My burger was way overdone with undercooked bacon. The fries on the side were a soggy mess. Service has also been an issue, to the point a restaurant we used to come to regularly we now only come to when it's the group's choice. Hopefully they'll go back to their roots before the wind up on an episode of Bar Rescue.

Best crab dip of my life. It's very smooth like a puree with little/no chunks of crab meat; however, all the flavor is there. The dip is served with excellent pretzel bread. Skip the tuna cigars (bland and dipping sauce adds nothing) and pot stickers (equally bland). The oyster poboy was worth a try, especially if you enjoy a spicy remoulade. The decor is a simple restaurant/bar with a drive-up window liquor store across the street. Wish we had time to try the desserts.

Great menu. Tasty food. Over-priced. Crap service. I've been one other time & it was for dinner. I had the salmon that time & it was really good but pricey. I don't mind paying for a good meal but I also recognize that this isn't DC, it's La Plata, so I shouldn't pay DC prices. So this week I met a couple of friends for lunch & it took well over an hour to get our food. No kids menu so they said they would make my 3-yr-old some chicken fingers. I would've said something to the manager about the poor service (from our albeit nice waiter) except at one point even the manager irritated us by snapping at our waiter in front of us. Not professional & we shouldn't have seen that! There are too many great restaurants out there to keep returning to a place that falls short of the mark. It'll be quite a while before I try this place again.

Very disappointing. I ordered the lite meal waffle chicken. I will say that the waitress did mention that it was a smaller portion but I didn't expect 1 very small chicken tender cut in half to make it look like more and about 10 sweet potato fries. Had the fries actually been fully cooked, I might not have said anything. But i did. Politely and nothing. No manager asking how they could make it better. No "we took this off the bill". Not even an " I'm sorry". Nothing but here is your bill and have a good night. So that combined with the fact that the waitress didn't bother to come check on us while we were eating, spending and extra buck fifty for 3 cold onion rings and the bill took forever to get (which would have been fine had my bill been adjusted...), I don't think we'll be back. I'm really disappointed because I'm not one of those people who is impossible to please.

I recently went here for dinner. I ordered the Angus burger with onion rings. The burger was very tasty and the onion rings tasted great. However, they only provided me with 3 onion rings and charged me an additional $1.50, which I felt like it was a ripoff when I could have ordered another side item for free. Other side items (which came with the meal) included french friends, pasta salad, and raisin coleslaw. Anyway, everything else was great - friendly service and clean atmosphere. You could choose to eat inside at the bar or the restaurant area or outside on patio.

I did like the bar. But the Keno was cold. And so was the soup and griled cheese by the time it arrived simultaneously with the cold nachos I requested to arrive beforehand. That said, the zesty grilled cheese delivered the heat i was looking for. That is a sandwich I'll be coming back for. The ham was almost bacon-like. Impressive to say the least. As with the rest of the meal, the pimento cheese would have benefited from a few more minutes under the heat lamp. Casey Jones, watch your speed!

This is a great place in downtown La Plata. It's got great staff, a good beer selection and--for lack of better words--classy bar food that actually goes above and beyond bar food...by a lot. It seems like it's trying to be a fancy restaurant a little, but it still exudes a bar feel...let's say that what ever it is, it manages to strike a nice balance.

This is a great Restaurant in LaPlata right next to the rail road tracks. The food is wonderful for a price but the portions are large. The crab cake sandwiches, baked Alaska, pizza and the list goes on are to die for. The bar can get quite loud at night and very busy, so if you want to have a quite conversation sit in the dinning room. All in all its a great place to have fun. Sorry, but I'm not impressed. I should have listened to the reviews I saw on here, but my friends were insistent that we go. We got to the restaurant right as it opened (about 11:30 am), and were seated immediately in a brightly-lit enclosed patio of sorts (I think people call it a day room?). It was still chilly in the room, so they turned on the heat lamps above for us. The service was okay, our waitress was very nice and on the ball. I did like how they have specials for Saturday brunch. I ordered a mimosa, and it was only 2 bucks. Dope! I'm pretty dissatisfied with the food, though. I ordered the Seafood Bake ($12)...I understand it was under the "Small Plates" portion of the menu, but Jesus Christ, the portion size was fit for an infant. I think I was paying more for the presentation of it than the actual quality and quantity of food. This is definitely one of those fancy restaurants that are all puffed up on their own importance. The "meal," if you can even call it that, was in a small soufflé dish of sorts, on top of a doily, inside a soup bowl. What The Fork? I was not only offended at that, but the quality of the seafood was mediocre at best. It's places like this that give me a bad feeling about ordering seafood. It tasted fishy, the scallops were chewy and old, and no amount of smothering it in garlic sauce and cheese could disguise that. Living on the Bay as we do, I expected much better quality seafood. My friend ordered their Chipotle...something..chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad. It was utterly forgettable, and the chicken was really dry. For the quality of the food, we should have only paid $10 each overall, but both our checks came to almost $20. What the hell did we even pay for? The presentation? The atmosphere? But the cherry on top, and why I will probably never return to Casey Jones unless under pain of death? I had to say goodbye to the owner of the establishment as we walked out. We weren't wished a nice day, weren't thanked for our patronage, and I'm pretty sure if I had said nothing, she wouldn't have even said goodbye. Rude!
